Presbytery of Maroondah

Historical

On 11 April 1967 the formation of the Presbytery of Maroondah was approved by the Commission to the General Assembly to become operative from the 1 July 1967. The new metropolitan presbytery was to consist of the following parishes—

(i)Transferred from the Presbytery of Melbourne North: Bennettswood, Blackburn, Blackburn South, Boronia, Box Hill, Bulleen, Burwood, Croydon, Healesville, Koonung Heights, Lilydale, Mitcham, Mooroolbark, Nunawading-Donvale, Ring- wood, Ringwood East, Tecoma, Templestowe, Vermont, Warburton, Wattle Park. Home Mission Stations—Heathmont, Mount Waverley, Warrandyte, Yarra Glen.

(ii)Transferred from the Presbytery of Melbourne East; Ashburton, Chadstone, Glen Waverley, Syndal.

At the 4 October 1978 General Assembly meeting, approval was given to unite the Presbytery of Maroondah (Ashburton, Warburton, and Ringwood/Heathmont) with the Presbytery of Melbourne North to be known as the Presbytery of Melbourne North.

On 9 April 1991 the Commission of Assembly approved revival of the Presbytery of Maroondah, as from 1 July 1991 whose bounds shall be:

along the south, Ferntree Gully Road from Stephensons Road, the South Eastern Arterial, the Princes Highway to the Presbytery of Gippsland; on the eastern side, the Presbytery of Gippsland; at the northern end, from Lake Eildon, along the Maroondah Highway, the Yarra River to the Fitzsimons Lane bridge; along the west, Fitzsimons Lane, Williamsons Road, Doncaster Road, Weatherby Road, Middleborough Road and Stephensons Road; and shall include the charges and home mission stations of: Belgrave Heights, Blackburn, Donvale, Kilsyth (Kirkbrae), Knox, Knox Chinese, Mt. Evelyn, Ringwood (Heathmont), Warburton/Woori Yallock/Powelltown.
