LENDON, Allan, Rev (1962-2008)
Assembly memorial minute, 2008
Rev Allan Duncan Lendon died on 6th June 2008, after a long and courageous battle with sickness. He gave 16 years of faithful service in the Parish of North Geelong. Since his ministry began in 1992, Allan attended to his duties with devotion and integrity. Gently, yet relentlessly he guided the congregation to rationalise and redevelop the church properties.
Allan Lendon was such a pastor at heart and many people can testify how he supported them, encouraged them, corrected them, wept with them and rejoiced with them. Allan’s love for the Word of God was profound and this was a positive influence on all who came into contact with him. Though he worked hard within the bounds of his parish, he never saw his ministry as limited to these borders but expressed his missionary heart by taking prayerful interest of particular needs in places like Malawi and Vanuatu. Though not well, he bravely served the Lord in a short term mission-partner venture in Blantyre at the Resource Centre, Malawi. Allan Lendon's desire was unwavering: to know Christ and make him known. We shall miss his warmth, his smile and his faithfulness to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
