Assembly memorial minute, 2007

Ron was born at Boort in 1921 and moved to West Footscray with his family in his early years. His father was session clerk of Scot’s Presbyterian Church, West Footscray. He studied for the ministry while serving as a Home Missionary - which accounts for the 11 years that it took him to finish! He served the Lord in parishes of Daylesford, Bunyip, Naracoorte, Epping-Lalor and finally Sunshine.

In his retirement Ron and Emma lived in Ballarat where Ron continued to supply pulpits until over the age of eighty years. Ron Traill will be remembered for his cheerful spirit, faithful commitment to Jesus Christ and the Gospel and a deep love of the Presbyterian Church. He served the church as moderator of this General Assembly in 1989. His life is celebrated in print: the biography of Rev Ronald Traill: "From Tea Billy Boy to Moderator. "
