That Presbytery places on record its deep appreciation of the ministry of the Reverend T.J.Riddle, Emeritus,who died on the 27th February 1973. The late Revd. T.J.Riddle was born on December 18, 1881 in Ballyroagh, Ireland. He graduated Bachelor of Arts at the Melbourne University and completed his theological education in the Theological Hall, Ormond College, and was ordained at Sale on the 13th October 1908.
He served in the parishes of Omeo, Merino, Mt.Barker.S.A., Ebenezer Ballarat, Moorabool, Ringwood and Glen Iris, retiring from the parish ministry at the end of 1956. He was a chaplain in the Army during the First World War, serving in West Africa and France. He gave splendid service in the administration aspect of the Church’s life, having been Clerk of the Presbyteries of Geelong, Melbourne North and Melbourne East,Convener of Assembly's administration and business committees and Clerk of the General Assembly from
1942 to 1946. During his retirement he served as hospital chaplain to the Alfred Hospital and for nine years was Assistant to the Minister at St. Andrew’s, Gardiner. He was Moderator of the General Assembly 1946-47.
He is remembered with respect as a loyal minister of Jesus Christ, a good colleague and a kindly friend, who exercised a very fine influence among young and old.
