In July 1915, Mr. Heriot received ordination as a volunteer for work in the A.I.M. and went to Cloncurry, Queensland, after having done much parish work during his theological course in Ormond College. During the unsettled years of the First World War, he ministered in the developing suburban areas of Melbourne. During this time he sustained an illness that affected his sight.
In the city of Ballarat, during the depression, he was zealous to aid anyone whose case came within his purview. For such Christlike services his name is still respectfully remembered. As a parish minister he was thoughtful and careful for others, even at the severe expense of sacrifice to himself.
His evangel was the Gospel of his Lord. He was a brilliant preacher, a diligent students and a considerate brother in Christ. Of a retiring disposition, he served the Church with zeal and faithfulness.
To Mrs. Heriot, the Rev. Kenneth Heriot, Basil, Keith and Heather, the Assembly tender sincere sympathy.
