During the Assembly of 1953, the Moderator expressed congratulations on behalf of the House to the Rev. W. J. Murray upon the Diamond Jubilee of his ordination. In the fulness of years, he lived on in retirement, reaching the age of 90 years, having faithfully served throughout 64 years of ordained ministry.

Mr. Murray was a most deovted believer in prayer. During the latter years he was the ardent sponsor of the Assembly Tryst, encouraging Church members to remember the Assemblies of the Church, when in session, before the Throne of Grace.

During his long retirement, he was most acceptable as a supply minister to vacant charges. He was highly regarded as a preacher, and his emphasis was strongly evangelical. He was a diligent reader, even to the last, zealous to keep his mind conversant with the theology of the times.

To his many friends the Assembly tender sincere sympathy.
