Mr. Keays, who lived in Geelong from the age of ten years, was educated in Geelong College. He heard the Call to the Ministry and attended the Theological Hall at Ormond College.
Upon completing his course at the Theological Hall in 1904, he responded to an appeal by the Assembly of Western Australia for young ministers to do pioneering work. He returned to Victoria after two years and was ordained at Tallangatta.
Mr. Keays ministry was marked throughout by the fine quality of faithfulness. He was a sympathetic pastor, a diligent student, and an acceptable preacher.
During a retirement of eighteen years he continued his activity as a supply minister, especially in the Geelong and Western Districts. He served with distinction in the infant charges of Manifold Heights and North Geelong.
To Mrs. Keays, her son and daughter, the Assembly tender sincere sympathy.
