BARNETT, Alfred Roy, Rev (1902-1958)
Assembly memorial minute, 1958
Born - 1902 at Hawthorn.
Ordained - Devonport, Tasmania - 28th March, 1939.
Parishes - Devonport - 1939-1954.
Tongala, Victoria - 1954-1958.
Died - 23rd January, 1958.
Mr. Barnett was in business in Melbourne until 1932, when he entered the Home Mission service of our Church and studied with a view to the ministry. During his years at the Theological Hall
he worked untiringly at Montague Street, Port Melbourne, under Home Mission appointment.
Mr. Barnett brought the fruits of his business experience into the service of the Church: he was a faithful pastor and was always fired in his preaching with the urgency of presenting Christ to men and calling for their commitment to Him.
Mr. Barnett for many years had not enjoyed good health. After some weeks in St. Andrew’s Hospital, he returned to Tongala, to the home of a friend, where he passed away.
To Mrs. Barnett and her son, the Assembly tender sincere sympathy.
