RANKIN, Ralph, Rev (1888-1960)
Assembly memorial minute, 1960
A ministry marked by great devotion and fine influence ended on 5th January, 1960, when the Rev. Ralph Rankin passed to his reward.
As a student he served the Home Mission Committee while doing his theological course, and also took a number of subjects at Melbourne University. Ordained at Sea Lake in 1918, he served the Church in Devonport (Tasmania), Penola (South Australia), Casterton, St. Arnaud and Koroit in Victoria (where he served for a period of fifteen years) and Nagambie, resigning that charge in March, 1956.
Thereafter he ministered as a supply minister and finally in the Home Mission Station of Syndal-Glen Waverley until his health failed in August, 1959.
Ralph Rankin was a faithful minister of the Gospel, a devoted pastor and an excellent youth leader; but he also have of his gifts to the work of the Presbytery and General Assembly, and was esteemed for his quiet but very real Christian devotion. He leaves behind the record of a workman who needs not to be ashamed.
The Assembly tenders its sincere sympathy to his widow, his son (Mr. Ian Rankin) and to his daughters, Mesdames A. Selby (Murrumbeena) and A. Murrell (Portland).
