SAW, Henry James, Rev (1884-1960)

 Person

Assembly memorial minute, 1961

The Rev. Henry James Saw began his preparation for the ministry as a Home Missionary in Tasmania. He studied under the correspondence course directed by the Rev. John Barnaby while a Home Missionary at Natimuk, Talbot and Connewarre.

After passing through Ormond Theological Hall, he was ordained and inducted at Inglewood in April, 1919. All his ministry was exercised in country charges - Merino, Port Fairy, Avoca and Cressy. He retired from Cressy on account of failing health and lived for some time at Colac until the family moved to Burwood, where he died on October 26th, 1960.

A faithful servant of Jesus Christ, he was diligent and cheerful in spirit and will be long remembered with affection by his former parishioners.

He is survived by Mrs. Saw and a family of three sons and four daughters, to whom the General Assembly convey their sincere sympathy.
