SCOTT, Thomas, Rev (1882-1961)

 Person

Assembly memorial minute 1962

Born at Uddington, in Scotland, the Rev. Thomas Scott, who died on October 16th, 1961, at the age of 79 years, came to Australia and entered the service of the Home Mission Committee in 1915. After more than two years’ practical experience in that capacity, he studied in the Ormond College Theological Hall from 1920 till late in 1922, and was ordained and inducted into the pastoral charge of Lindenow on January 10th, 1923.

His next parish was Mirboo North, where he remained until he accepted a call to Willaura in January 1939. His last charge was at Elmore, from which he resigned on June 30th, 1954. In all these parishes he served with the quiet zeal of a dedicated country pastor.

A feature of his ministry was his generosity to people in need of help, frequently as an anonymous benefactor of people beyond his own parish. In his later years he lived in retirement in Willaura.

He is survived by his widow, and to her the Assembly tenders its sincere sympathy in her loss, and prays that the Cod of all comfort may sustain her in her sorrow.
