BANKS, Arthur, Rev (1875-1961)
Assembly memorial minute 1962
One of the oldest ministers of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria, the Rev. Arthur Banks, entered, into his reward on November 16th, 1961, after serving his Master until he reached the age of 86.
Born in Brighton, England, he became a home missionary of our Church, serving both in Victoria and Tasmania. After completing the course of study at the Theological Hall at Ormond College he spent his exit year at Myrtleford, and received his ordination at Clunes. His other pastorates were at Loch, Heathcote and Chiltern. He resigned from that charge in 1941, thereafter exercising a faithful ministry as a supply preacher, undertaking long and sometimes arduous trips into the country to fulfil preaching obligations.
His work in that capacity was curtailed by an accident which befell him in the city in 1955.
He leaves a family of three daughters and one son, and to them the sympathy and prayers of the Assembly go out in fullest measure.
