WALE, Edmund Arthur, Rev (1907-1964)
Assembly memorial minute 1965
Born September 1st, 1907, at Port Melbourne. Died November 16th, 1964.
Ordained at Port Melbourne July 12th, 1939, and inducted as a Missionary to the New Hebrides.
Served under foreign Mission Committee in New Hebrides at Aulua, Malekula, but owing to illness was forced to return to Victoria in 1943.
Inducted Charlton December 21 st, 1943. Seymour April 11th, 1951.
Resigned from the active ministry on April 15th, 1959.
Mr. Wale was a man of singleness of purpose and a committed minister of the Church. Convinced of a call to the mission field, he would not accept a ’call’ to his first appointment at Myrtleford, rather waiting for the door to the mission field to open to him. Though his ministry to the New Hebrides was short, it was none the less effective, and he will be long remembered for his warm-hearted friendship and devoted ministry.
Following his retirement from the active ministry through ill-health, he with hope and expectation looked forward to a renewal that would enable him to resume his ministry again. This was not to be, and he passed away suddenly on 16th November, 1964.
The Assembly give thanks to God for his spirit that knew no defeat, his faithfulness in service to Christ and His Church.
To Mrs. Wale and the family the Assembly express their sympathy.
