SHRADER, Keith Irvine, Rev (1908-1966)

 Person

Assembly memorial minute, 1967

Born at Bairnsdale, 11th July 1908. Ordained at Port Augusta, S.A., 12th January 1945. Died at Allansford, 19th December 1966.

Keith Shrader served as a Home Missionary prior to entering the Theological Hall. He was Ordained as a Licientate at Port Augusta in 1945 and thereafter served in the Charges of Birchip and Allansford.

He was a faithful minister of the World and a good pastor to his people. He was a practical man, capable with his hands, and his realistic approach coloured his patient and effective ministry. His very deep concern for migrants marks with distinction his ministry at Allansford. In all he was responsible for the bringing to Australia of 170 British families, and often his manse was the first home in Australia for many. His own concern and practical policy inspired many of his congregation to do the same and his parish holds a unique record in this field of Christian Service.

He was a man with a deep concern for people who found a real and lasting place in their affection.

The Church gives thanks to God for his faithful and fruitful ministry and commends Mrs. Shrader and his three daughters to the Grace of God and the continuing comfort of the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit.
