MacLEAN, Kenneth, Rev (1908-1967)

 Person

Assembly memorial minute 1967

The Rev. Kenneth MacLean came to the Church in Australia from the Church of Scotland. Prior to entering the ministry he had studied law at Edinburgh and later practiced as a solicitor.

After serving in the First World War with the Royal Scots he served as a senior chaplain to the forces in India. Following his work as a chaplain he became a parish minister at Bridge Weir in Scotland.

He was called to Chalmers Church, Launceston, Tasmania, and then to St. David’s, Geelong, and in both spheres exercised a gracious and effective ministry.

Kenneth MacLean loved his high calling, stood as one worthy of the rich tradition of the Church of Scotland from whence he came, and earned a secure place in the Church of Australia by his winsomeness and kindness to all.

After a long illness during which he showed rare fortitude, faith and hope, he passed away at Geelong on 15/9/67 at the age of fifty-nine.

The Assembly gives thanks to God for his life and his ministry and conveys sympathy to Mrs. MacLean and her son, and commends them to the continuing Grace of God and the Fellowship and Comfort of the Holy Spirit.
