In 1946 he was appointed Superintendent of Social Services Department of the Church and served there for fifteen years. Under his superintendency the work of Social Services grew, particularly in the field of the care of the aged and the village of Kirkbrae stands as a perpetual memorial to him as well as the Arthur Harrison House, a Hostel for boys - wards of State and on probation from the courts. The Rev. A.G. Harrison had a remarkable capacity for interesting people in the field of Social Services particularly in the way of securing from them generous gifts and bequests.

In his various parishes and in his work as Superintendent of Social Services he was noted for his concern for people and his desire to help especially those in distress. The General Assembly is greatly in his debt.
