MAXWELL, David Skinner, Rev. (1830-1914)
Assembly memorial minute 1914
“The Assembly resolves to place on record its sorrow at the passing away of the Rev. D.S. Maxwell, its appreciation of his ministry, and its sympathy with Mrs. Maxwell and with his sons.
Mr. Maxwell, after a successful ministry in the parish of Monomail. Scotland, came to Victoria in 1875. At Kew, at Kilmore and at South Yarra, of which parish he was the minister for 11 years, by his scholarly and thoughtful preaching, and by his winsome personality, he won the esteem and affection of his people.
Resigning from the parish of South Yarra in 1890, through failing health, he went to live at Kew. There he associated himself with the congregation of Kew, was inducted as an Elder, and up to the measure of his strength served it faithfully, being to many in time of sorrow a sympathetic and wise comforter.
He passed away quietly at the age of 84. ‘Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in, in its season. ' The Assembly commends his widow and his sons to the Father of tender mercies and the God of a11 comfort. ”
