McQUEEN, Finlay, Rev. (1856-1934)
Assembly memorial minute 1935
Mr. McQueen died on November 18, aged 77. His first occupation was that of a railway servant. The responsibilities of a home and a family, however did not deter him from indulging hopes of the Holy Ministry. He prosecuted his studies with this in view until he was in a position to enter Ormond College. Here he completed his course of training.
He was called to Kyabram in 1892. His subsequent charges were Kalgoorlie, in Western Australia; in Victoria, Skipton, Elsternwick, East Kew and Lang Lang. He continued in the active ministry until failing health compelled him to retire.
The perseverance and devotion which enabled Mr. McQueen to overcome the difficulties which stood in the way of his becoming a minister of the Church characterized him to the end. He was singularly whole-hearted in the service of the Master. His modesty was equal to his devotion. These graces, with the natural ability which marked him out for the ministry, brought success in all his fields of labour. He was esteemed and beloved wherever he went. His name will ever be held in honour by all who knew him.
Our sympathy is given to the members of his family.
