BRUCE, Douglas, Rev. (1875-1936)
Assembly memorial minute 1936
Mr. Bruce died with tragic suddenness while marching with the returned soldiers on Anzac Day. He was aged 62. His birthplace was Illowa, near Warrnambool.
He was an Ormond College student. His charges were Heathcote, Penshurst, Mirboo, Whittlesea and Cranbourne. He was a padre during the Great War, afterwards taking an active interest in the Returned Soldiers’ League.
Mr. Bruce came of a family the members of which gave devoted service to the Church. He was a familiar figure in the Assembly, showing keen interest in the various branches of our Church life. He was an earnest minister of Jesus Christ and a man of generous and brotherly spirit.
Our sympathy is given to his widow in her bereavement.
