SOUTER, Frederick, Rev. (1827-1915)
Assembly memorial minute 1915
The Assembly records with regret the death of the Rev. Frederick Souter, on Friday, 30th April, at the age of 88. His first Charge was at Firth, in Orkney, and then for 15 years he laboured in the Shetland Islands.
His Australian labours began at Deniliquin, and were continued at Miner’s Rest, but throat trouble compelled his resignation in 1890, when he took up his abode in Coburg, where as Sesion Clerk and in other ways he rendered good service to the Coburg Church.
As a preacher he was earnest and evangelical, as a pastor faithful and diligent, and in private life devout and prayerful, winning the Master’s welcome, “Well done, good and faithful servant; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
