AGNEW, William, Rev. (1867-1921)
Assembly memorial minute 1921
The Reverend William Agnew was born in 1867. Early in his life, he came under the influence of the late Rev. J.H. McKay, and was won by him for the ministry of the Gospel. His pastorates were Beeac, Kalgoorlie (W.A.), Kilmore, Mentone and Cheltenham.
A faithful minister of Jesus Christ and a loyal servant of His Church, he spent himself freely in promoting the moral and spiritual welfare of the community, and in advancing the cause of righteousness. He rendered valuable assistance to the general work of the Church through its Committees, and the Mentone Branch of the Presbyterian Ladies’ College owes much of its initial success to his efforts
By his faithful performance of the duties of chaplain to the Cheltenham Benevolent Institution, he won the hearts of the old folks there.
He was cut off in the midst of his days by an accident while riding his bicycle in the main street of Cheltenham.
The Assembly tenders its sincere sympathy to his widow and daughters in their tragically sudden bereavement.
